Tree revisited

This piece is modeled on one I made earlier, same design, different method.

Here I used batik (on the base fabric), embroidery with threads of different thicknesses and couching. I also added some acrylic paint to the tree.

Because it both has warm colours and is a kind of wintery landscape, it has a bit of an unreal, perhaps even eerie, but also fascinating feel to it.

Retro clock

This project was part of the speedcrafting sessions with Helen Robertson from Shetland. I joined these crafting sessions during the pandemic and they were an amazing way to tackle feeling empty and isolated.

The patchwork clock is made from an old vinyl record, covered with fabric patches.

It’s all retro vibes here!

O, wind, if winter comes...

This piece is my take on the workshop led by Emily Jo Gibbs. It's a composition of layered translucent fabrics, a brilliant method to create depth with colour and overlapping material.

I added a quote by Percy Shelley to suggest the narrative of a cold winter, with some hope that spring will arrive soon. "O, wind, if winter comes can spring be far behind?"

Charms

These charms are my contribution to the TextileArtist.org workshop hosted by Jodi Colella. They are made from scraps of lace, lots of beads, lots of thread, pieces of old clothes, wool and wire.

They have a really nice feel to them. Perhaps I created some nice Christmas decorations here, or brooches? Although they don't have a funcion (yet) I like them and one day, I'm sure, they will come in very handy!

Here I used pieces of lace and a piece of William Morris fabric and lots of beads:
