The menopausal woman

Here's a force to be reckoned with : the menopausal woman, full of plans, energy and wisdom! There, I said it and that's what this piece is all about!

I knit the background from Rowan wool and felted the fabric in the washing machine. This way it feels sturdy and slighlty carpet-like.

The powerful woman and the ladder are embroidered onto the background, and I added fairy lights (off course!). It is quite a big wall hanging which I installed in our hallway: very happy with it!

Just Jump!

This is one of my small, more surreal, cartoonish pieces. Just a bit of fun!

Cartoons

Inspired by another workshop I did with Saima Kaur (more information on the first one you can find here), I made this sampler with micro stories. I love the versatility, the humour and lightness of this method and will defenitely explore this further 😊.

What mood shall I choose?

For this piece I stepped a bit out of my comfort zone by using bold colours.

I embroidered figures onto a piece of fabric cut off an old pair of trousers. It is inspired by the work of Saima Kaur, who herself is inspired by the expressive folk embroideries from India.

It's a bit of fun, what will the day bring: yay or nah? But in the end, every day is just one day!

Happy thought

Part of an old sheet, an embroidery hoop, some thread and a bit of inspiration from the magazine Mollie Makes (issue 9). This was my first attempt to embroider letters. They turned out a bit wonky, but in this design, it's kind of suitable, I think. This happy thought hangs in my crafting space now.
